All eyes are on Saina Nehwal, India’s Olympic bronze medallist. She has advanced in the women’s singles second round at Barcelona Spain Masters against Germany’s Yvonne Li. The tournament being held at Barcelona has a total prize of $170,000.
Saina is one of the two Indian badminton player to have won an Olympic medal, a feat she achieved in the 2012 London games where she was a bronze medalist. The other player in the same league is PV Sindhu.
The Padma and Arjuna awardee winner was recently in the news as she joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. She strongly supports the ‘Khelo India’ initiative of the government.
Sania took just 35 minutes to beat her opponent in the first round match. A lot of fans are pinning their hopes on Saina, as she is looking to keep her Tokyo Olympic hopes alive.
