Its the 9th International Yoga Day today. Celebrated annually on June 21 since 2014 after the United Nations officially recognised it.
Must say we’ve come a long way in makin Yoga a way of life for millions across the globe. This year the global celebration is being led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the United Nations Headquarters in New York . The national celebrations are being led by Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankar from Jabalpur.
It is a day dedicated to raising awareness about the numerous benefits of practicing yoga and promoting its holistic approach to health and well-being. Yoga is an ancient practice that originated in India and has gained worldwide popularity for its physical, mental and spiritual benefits.
The Theme for 2023
The theme for 2023 is “Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” which beautifully captures our shared aspiration for “One Earth, One Family, and One Future.”

The significance of International Yoga Day lies in its ability to bring people from various backgrounds, cultures, and nations together to celebrate and practice yoga. Yoga encourages mindfulness, promotes physical fitness, reduces stress, and cultivates a sense of inner peace and harmony.
