World Music Day -2021
Music is the food of Love, Play On — William Shakespeare
Without Music, life would be a mistake  Friedrich Nietzsche
Imagine a world without music, without melody … sounds very sad right. Music is precious and life is actually unimaginable without it.
Today, June 21st is World music day. It was first celebrated in France in 1982. The day is dedicated to musicians, songwriters and music lovers.
It celebrates music and people who are passionate about music. Music is a universal language and it transcends all boundaries. It is also known as ‘Fete de la Musique’ in French and Make Music Day as well.
Music has the ability to make you feel emotions that you may have been connected to before. Not only that, music is able to heal you during the worst of times.
The various genres in music indicate variety and also are a reflection of the history and culture from where they have emerged from.
Many studies have proven that music therapy  helps in reducing stress and helps in performing better. One can exercise better to music, and light music can be very soothing in a stressfull environment.
Music therapy has proved wonders for people battling with mental health issues and it can also help an individual to exercise better. With the right kind of music, people can concentrate on their jobs and also perform better.

History

In 1982, the Minister of Art and Culture, Jack Lange, gave this festival a green light, along with a re
French composer named Maurice Fleuret. Every year, it is celebrated on the day of the summer solstice, which is June 21. The aim behind this was to bring people out on the streets and enjoy themselves listening to the music, however they like it.
Since then, around 120 countries in the world celebrate this incredible day.

Significance

Children are often advised to pick up music as  a hobby. They should be encouraged to either play a musical instrument  or sing. For most of us, music is an integral part of our lives.
Even if you just do it as  hobby music can add a lot to your life. Therefore, what better way to celebrate this than today as it celebrates music through and through.
June 21 is also the longest  day of the year  while India marks the day as the International Day of Yoga as it is Summer Solstice. So, Yoga and Music— a great combination.
