If leadership is about keeping people motivated and showing them there’s `light at the end of the tunnel’ then this is it. In the Indian tradition, small gestures and rituals hold a very important place. So, be it lighting a diya, putting a tilak or clapping. All these rituals have spiritual connotations and deep significance.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his televised address today has called for a ‘mahashakti jagran’ .This is his third address to the nation amidst the coronavirus pandemic. Modi praised citizens for showing restraint and said India was now ‘setting an example for the world.’
So, what are we all supposed to do? On Sunday 5th April, 130 crores Indians will ‘caution’ coronavirus with a ‘mahashakti jagran.’ At 9 pm for full 9 minutes, each one of us will either light a lamp, a torch, a diya or even a mobile screen. For this, we will first put off the lights at home, and stand at our door or in the balcony.
This is our effort to bring ‘prakash’ into our lives. “People will not congregate for this. Please do this at home, in your balconies.
Thanking the citizens for maintaining discipline and staying at home, the Prime Minister said, “We have to move from darkness to light. You are at home by ourselves but remember you are not alone. The entire country is with you. The poorest of our country need the hope to fight and prevent coronavirus. We need to stand united in our effort to fight this disease.”
But please remember citizens `we should not break social distancing norms.’
