Actor Sanjay Dutt battles Stage -3 Lung Cancer

Sanjay Dutt's Cancer treatment

Life has been a roller coaster ride for apna Munnabhai MBBS.  Sanjay Dutt’s bad boy image, Nargis Dutt’s death, being branded a terrorist, his jail sentence and now his stage -3 lung Cancer.  To quote from a BBC documentary, `he has been to hell and  back.’

Just when everybody thought that his testing time was over; now there’s a new health challenge. Sanju has been diagnosed with advanced-stage lung cancer. Ironically Sanjay Dutt also lost his mother to Cancer and his first wife to brain tumor.

Doctors at the Lilavati Hospital announced that he will be taking a break for some medical treatment. Sanjay Dutt’s wife Manyata Dutt, who flew to Mumbai from Dubai on a special charter flight, also issued a statement thanking her husband’s army of well-wishers for their prayers.https://ishare.rediff.com/video/others/sanjay-dutt-leaves-for-kokilaben-hospital-says-pray-for-me-/11122772

A source told www.Yogfit.in that “The actor complained of breathlessness. It was detected that air entry was not happening from his right lung. A CT scan further revealed that there was fluid accumulation in his right lung (pleural effusion) accompanied by two lesions, one on each lung. Sanjay was told that it could be a bacterial infection, tuberculosis, an adverse effect of strenuous exercise wherein he might have hurt himself, or cancer. The fluid was removed, the volume was as high as 1.5 litres. A 2-day hospitalisation followed.”

The 61-year-old actor was worried and asked several questions from the doctor. He was further asked to undergo a PET scan on August 10 and the histopathology department of the hospital found out that the fluid had cancer cells. Sanjay’s PET scan, too, confirmed cancer.

Cancer is a silent killer

When a cancerous tumor is diagnosed in the early stages – before the tumor has a chance to metastasize, or colonize, other healthy organs and tissues – patients typically have a very good chance of survival. Unfortunately, when noticeable symptoms first occur for many common tumors, these cancers are well beyond the early stages of development and have already begun to spread.

Lung cancer, ovarian cancer, colorectal and cervical cancers, as well as breast cancer, can all go unnoticed by patients until they are very advanced, stage 3 or stage 4 tumors. These tumors are often defined as “late stage” cancers.

It’s no coincidence that these are some of the most fatal forms of cancer.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, half of all colorectal and cervical cancers in the U.S. are not diagnosed until stage 3 or stage 4, which means the tumors have already migrated to other organs and tissues.

Despite great strides in awareness and screening, a third of all breast cancers are not diagnosed until the late stages.

Sanjay Dutt’s Filmography

Sanjay Dutt made his debut in 1981’s Rocky and has appeared in films such as Khalnayak, Saajan, Sadak, the remake of Agneepath and the Munnabhai series. His new film Sadak 2 streams on August 28 on Disney+Hotstar

It is reported by India Today, around Rs 735 crore is riding on Sanjay Dutt with six films in the pipeline. While most of them are more or less completed, YRF’s Prithviraj has gone into a total fix with around 60 per cent of the shooting still left to take place.

Nargis Dutt died of Pancreatic Cancer

Nargis died of pancreatic cancer in 1981, just days before the release of Rocky, her son, Sanjay Dutt’s first movie. She was 51 years old and left behind a substantive body of work that proved she could play both a royal persona in an epic like Humayun and a spoiled cosmopolitan girl like in Andaz. But Nargis had range not just on screen, but off it as well

Her charitable work earned her a seat in the Rajya Sabha in 1980. The Nargis Dutt Foundation, instituted in her honour, has been working in the field of health, education and women’s empowerment for the past 40 years.
