As per the protocol since 2014 Yoga enthusiasts took part in small events across the globe.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on the occasion where he said that yoga has emerged as a ray of hope in fight against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19). There were many small Yoga events organized in various parts of the country. This year’s theme is Yoga for Wellness.
Across the globe – in China, America, West Africa and Europe Yoga enthusiasts celebrated the Day with great enthusiasm.
Over 100 Chinese yoga enthusiasts took part in an event organised by the Indian Embassy in Beijing yesterday. Indian Ambassador to China Vikram Misri and Deputy Ambassador, Dr Acquino Vimal took part in the Yoga event held at the India House.
As per the Indian Express, Misri said, “ when our mental faculties are being increasingly bombarded by external factors, Yoga offers us the space to slow down our minds, relieve stress and impart balance to our existence,” he said.
The first lady of Brazil Mrs Michelle Bolsonaro, participated in an event on Yoga organized by the Indian Mission in Brazil.In her opening remarks, the First Lady, she said, “Yoga provides a holistic approach to health and well-being and is now become a world heritage as it continues to be widely practiced all over the world.”
Indian Ambassador to Brazil Suresh K Reddy, confirmed this to Financial Express Online and said, “The First Lady wore the IDY T-shirt the mission had brought out on the occasion and not only listened to the talk but was also seen enjoying doing all the Yoga Asanas and meditation. The talk on “Holistic approach to Yoga” was organized in association with Lonavala Yoga Institute.”
