So, it is Joe Biden ! The 46th president of the United States of America and is now l the oldest person to take oath of the highest office of the oldest democracy of the world.
After a last-minute vote count tussle, his home state Pennsylvania’s 20 electoral votes put Biden over the 270 electoral votes needed to win. His running mate Kamala Harris is now the first woman and the first person of colour (part African, part Indian) to be the vice president. Joe Biden has earlier served as the 47th vice president of the United States in the Obama administration from 2009 to 2017.
He stands for two things –workers who built the country and values that can bridge the gap between the minorities.
His immediate challenge will be to handle the Coronavirus Pandemic. As the U.S faces challenges from Coronavirus to racial inequity, his pitch is to create new economic opportunities for workers, restore environmental protections and healthcare rights, and international alliances.
