The importance of having a Breakfast everyday

Why is it important to have breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  In fact, a healthy breakfast  doesn’t just provide you energy to seize the day, it kickstarts your metabolism.  It also helps in balancing blood sugar levels and assists in weight management.

Think of a day when you have missed your breakfast. How do you feel? You would feel very hungry at the end of the day and land up binge eating. Or yu could even indulge in overeating junk food.  So, skipping a breakfast is really a bad idea.

Breakfast, literally breaks your fast after an eight hours sleep. Roshan Kabra, a banking professional says, “I have been a breakfast-skipper through my college life. Since mornings I had to rush to college I would start my day just with a cup of coffee. The later l would grab something in the college canteen. I suffered from acidity and lack of energy. After college, it took me a full-blown burnout to realize how crucial it is to have your morning meal.”

Skipping breakfast can lead to an array of health problems including stress, fatigue and increased susceptibility to obesity and diabetes. In addition, ditching breakfast frequently hampers your focus, alertness and productivity. Overtime, it also increases the risk of cardiovascular disease and nutrient deficiencies.

In the Indian context our Upma, Poha, Idli, Dosa are good choices of breakfast. A nutritious breakfast may look different to different people depending on various factors like your weight, gender and food preferences. Overall, food with essential nutrients, such as protein, fiber, vitamins and of course, some healthy fats, to your diet is important for breakfast.

The best time to have breakfast is within two hours of getting up. The sooner you eat breakfast after you wake up, the better it is for your metabolism. When in a hurry go in something simple as boiled eggs with brown bread, oatmeal and walnuts, fresh fruit an cottage cheese.

Also, remember to have an early dinner, so that your body can digest it. You can start your mornings with a cleanser like warm water and lime, aloe vera juice or jeera water.

Okay then, going to finish my brekky!
